Vital Role Of Proper Diet In Fighting Cavities And Gum Infection
Diet plays a vital role in oral health. Snacks should be limited, those with high in simple sugars in particular. A balanced diet should be observed. Food particles become lodged in and around your teeth every time you eat; providing fuel for bacteria to proliferate. Every time you eat, these bacteria in plaque produces acid. Bacteria is given more time to break down sugars and produce acids that starts the decay process when you eat more often and allow food to stay longer inside your oral cavity. Your natural teeth are exposed to bacterial acids each time you eat foods that contain complex sugars (sugar and starch). The enamel surface of teeth can break down due to repeated acid attacks that leads to cavity, dental problems and gum infections. Brush your teeth correctly after you have eaten a snack. Mineral and vitamin deficiencies can also have an impact on oral and general health.
