But before you purchase a teeth whitening kit, talk to your dentist first, use them according to directions to avoid overuse. The overuse of teeth whiteners may possibly damage teeth and mouth. How is teeth whitening done? There are two main types of whitening procedures, namely the vital and non-vital teeth whitening. The process is called as non-vital teeth whitening when the bleaching is done on a tooth that has had root-canal treatment and no longer has a live nerve. The procedure is being done on teeth that have live nerves is called vital whitening.
